Pastor Valerie Hope grew up in country Victoria, Australia. She was one of ten children, born in a time when life was extremely tough on large families. During her childhood Valerie suffered abuse of many forms, and was a victim of horrendous crimes against her. By the age of eight sexual abuse, age of fifteen, attacked in her bed by a stranger, and by the age of seventeen, brutally raped by another stranger.
Valerie married at the age of nineteen and is mother to four children, Christopher, Matthew, Kymberly and Casey. Valerie's past came to her breaking point at the age of thirty-five. Her marriage broke down at that time. She was suffering depression, severe anger issues, and emotional torment.
During her darkest time she cried out to God to help her as she felt her life was out of control and she had nowhere to turn for help. She knew she was affecting her children, and had deep self hatred. Her pain was great. She had known a lot about God but didn't realise how much He desired to draw her to Him. In her darkest pit, she found Him. She had never experienced the love she felt as He ministered to her deepest wounds.
She also watched her eldest boys at the age of 16 and 14 be drawn by God, as He started to heal her dysfunction. She spent time reading His word and realising Jesus was drawing her into a relationship with her heavenly father. She felt His healing power for her as a victim, but also, His grace to forgive her for the wrongs she had done, and the people she had hurt due to her anger and control.
She was changing day by day working toward wholeness. During this time Valerie's love for other hurting women was evident, as she reached out to others in empathy and compassion.
After ten years of ministering to others, working fulltime, and being a single Mum, she was drawn to the need to see other women restored who were broken, through whatever cause. She knew she had experienced the answer, going from an emotional wreck to a strong woman with amazing insight and wisdom. Her hurt and pain had caused her to become self centred due to brokenness, now she was walking the walk, becoming others centred and knowing she had a call to see others experience the same. She was no longer a victim, but a victor able to turn her horrific past into a beacon, to other hurting people to say there is a way to overcome. That way, is all glory to her beautiful God that wants to be everyone's answer.
As she seen the great need, she stepped out to put together the great program that exists today, called Eagles Wings.
Ps Valerie has 4 adult children who are all serving God with their gifting's in both business and ministry. One of her favourite past-times is spending time with her 5 gorgeous grandchildren.
Valerie has a vision to see an Eagles Wings Recovery Centre in every state in Australia and beyond.
