Eagles Wings Program has been designed to rehabilitate students suffering from life controlling issues. Past and current students have applied due to depression, eating disorders, suicidal tendencies, drug and alcohol addiction, or long term emotional issues. Any of the above can result in loss of relationship with loved ones, loss of children to DOCS, and the individual feeling like they have lost control of their life. These situations do not happen overnight. The spirally downward can be due to undealt with pain due to rejection, abuse (sexual, physical or emotional) past or present, trauma, grief, and so on. The undealt with pain can result in some individuals developing anger and control issues, isolation, fear and anxiety, stress, promiscuousness, and depression, to name a few. This can then start the cycle of addiction, self medication, or other life controlling issue.
The program is based on establishing a new true identity after years of low self worth and believing many lies about yourself. As humans we are designed to feel loved, valued, and accepted. If this is not enforced in childhood years and beyond, it takes time to re-establish truth and right thinking.
Many of our students have felt an initial desire to perform to feel loved and when this doesn’t work and they can’t live up to others standards or their own, they give up trying, and divert to self medication and destructive lifestyles to confirm the lie that they are hopeless and unlovable. This then is an identity issue. The same may be true for the spoilt child who grew up with no boundaries, and no accountability for their actions. Most brokenness stems from a broken self image.
While the student is focusing on her healing and rehabilitation, the stronghold of the addictive cycle is being broken. This can take many months. Even after the stronghold of addiction is broken the student needs to work on emotional and character issues, so they do not return to the addictive cycle in the future. This is why rehabilitation can take twelve months.
