From “KELLY”

“I came to Eagles Wings in Autumn 2007, where the days were beautiful, the sunsets glorious, and on my dusk walk each evening, I would wait for the first star to appear. As the leaves were chamging colour there were changes for me. This was to be my home for the next twelve months. I was communal living with other women, doing a Christian program, chores and work program. I will always remember that season as that is when l met Jesus.

Then came the cold winter where everything was becoming bare, including myself. As God started to peel of the layers, so that he could comfort me, heal me and teach me new mindsets.  There was one statement that kept coming to mind ‘It is not our condition that determines our position in life, rather our position in Christ that determines our condition’. Even though the winter was cold my heart was warmed by His grace overwhelming my brokenness.

Then came spring, with the birds happily chirping away, and the sweet smell of Jasmine wafting through my bedroom window. On our morning walks, I saw baby lambs that had just been born, and on our bus ride to church, I saw a foal trying to walk for the first time, revealing God`s creation of new life and my new life in Christ. God’s blessing was starting to pour out on me. My 13 year old daughter received a touch of God at Planetshakers church, and my 9 year old was beginning to pray.

Then came the sweltering heat of summer, where the grass was dying off, the trees were thirsty, and the plants looked tired. As for me the old Kelly was certainly dying as I was being fed and watered and so alive in what God had in store for me. The silly season was upon us as us eaglets went every Tuesday night to choir practice for six weeks. The Christmas carols that I had sung many times over the years, now made my eyes well up with tears, as they now had true meaning. To be part of the choir with my church at Faith City, which had become my church, was an amazing experience. I had two weeks leave at Christmas time where i spent time with my girls. However I wasn’t just there physically anymore, I was there emotionally and thanked God that he had blessed me with two beautiful girls. The night before I was due back my youngest said ‘Mum you’re different now, you’re happier and you’re so funny’. As l said goodnight to my eldest, I apologised to her that I had hurt her, for she must have been scared during that period of my life, while l was drinking and suffering from depression. Her reply was “Its OK Mum, you couldn’t help it. As god was pouring out His Grace on me, so was my daughter. Summer was drawing to a end and temperature was starting to balance out again as was my life.

Autumn has come again and us Eaglets were blessed to go to ‘Colour Conference’, which was awesome. I soaked up three days and nights with 17,000 other women. I had Easer at home with my girls and we were excited because we knew it was my last break forever.

Today is my final day of the home l have known for the last eleven months. As God changes the seasons, He has changed me. I am going home to be the mother I was always intended to be.

I now give all honour and glory to an awesome God who has restored my Life.”

Kelly wrote and read this at her graduation lunch. Over a year has passed and she is still doing well.

About Jenny:

Jenny was brought up in a strict cult like religion. She came to Eagles Wings, scared, alone and angry. Most of her anger was diverted to her husband who she had previously broken up with. She was also angry at a God she thought was unloving, strict and distant.  As Jenny went through her healing process, she started to realise there were areas of her life she needed to change, and that maybe she to, was responsible for her marriage break up.  She had been addicted to Alcohol, and began to put one hundred per cent into working the program. Along the way she realised God was loving and full of grace and forgiveness. Her mindsets started to melt away.

Jenny started to make contact with her husband and they began to reconcile while she was on the program. Jenny completed the program.  Four years later she is still with her husband and doing well, free from her addiction.

About Michelle:

Michelle came to Eagles Wings unable to cope with life and suffering depression. She has two children and could not cope with parenting. She had very low self esteem, and needed a lot of healing due to her own childhood, where she was made to feel, and believed, she was incapable of doing anything right. As she started to replace the truth with the lies and believe it, she started to grow in confidence.  She spoke with great confidence at her graduation, which was a miracle for such a timid lady. She joined the workforce within months of graduating, is in a great church and continues to do well.

About Ellen:

Ellen came to Eagles Wings having lost her daughter to child protection. She was addicted to alcohol. She had made a lot of wrong decisions with partners. Ellen completed the program after 14 months but the highlight for her was receiving her daughter back six months into the program. Her daughter moved to Eagles Wings with her. Three years later they are still together and she is married to the man she prayed for while on the program

About Natasha:

Natasha joined the program with her toddler. She was addicted to drugs. Natasha had been sexually abused as a child, had suffered a marriage break down and lost custody of her other children. She had just become a Christian, and was passionate to do well. She worked the program well, was reconciled to her mother after many years, and began to receive amazing healing as God drew her. After the program finished tragically she lost her brother to an accident and nursed her mother while dying of cancer.  Natasha has been rescued by a God that loves her.

About Cathy:

Cathy is a mature woman with teenage children still with her husband. She was suffering from an eating disorder, self medication and alcohol addiction when she came to Eagles Wings. Cathy pressed in to receive her revelations, healing, and teaching. Her family have a wife and mother back, and after eighteen months she is still growing in every way back home.

About Heidi:

Heidi was addicted to alcohol, and a very broken lady who was an atheist. She didn’t know why she had chosen our program, but felt to give it a try.  She did want to leave, in the early days but pushed through, wandering if all this love of God stuff could be real.  After six weeks she said she wanted whatever it was we had, and started to flourish. She had experienced much pain in her earlier years, and began to open up to healing.  After being so hurt she said she would never ever marry. After finishing the program and working on our team she met an amazing man in our church.  We all attended her wedding. It was a glorious day. She has since moved down south and is very happily married, and working back in her original profession.

About  Chris:

Chris like a lot of the girls that attend had been given many diagnoses by mental health and she was an emotional child when she came even at twenty eight. She had abuse of many forms in her past.  As she developed a love for the teaching and a God that loved her, she started to mature emotionally. In a loving environment, where she was encouraged to believe the truth about her abilities, she grew in confidence. She is now in the workforce and studying.

Many of the above girls and others that completed the program are willing to talk to applicants, and to answer any questions. We also have two ex-students on our staff.
